Julia was born and raised in Eagan, MN and grew up playing a variety of sports including soccer, volleyball, basketball, and Ultimate frisbee. She still plays Ultimate for the MN club team! Julia’s interest in physical therapy developed after sustaining a foot injury while playing high school volleyball. She was able to see the power of movement, body awareness, education, and the mind-body connection. Julia attended St. Louis University for both college and grad school where she earned her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has special interests in both neuro rehab and women’s health, and was able to practice her clinical skills in these settings throughout graduate school and in her time working at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Outside of physical therapy, Julia has completed her 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training and currently is an instructor at Yoga Six. She also is an ACE certified fitness instructor and personal trainer, and coaches/trains at Title Boxing Club. Julia hopes to bridge the gaps between rehab, fitness, and mindfulness. As a PT, she takes a proactive approach to empower others to make movement a habit through the mind body connection + the constant desire to feel your best. She utilizes a wide range of treatments including manual therapy, strength training, dry needling, movement analysis and gait training, and vestibular therapy. She also has completed continuing education courses on pelvic health and nutrition. Julia strives to educate others to learn to use their body in a way that is most effective for them. Over time, she has learned that stress is inevitable…How can we take care of our bodies now so that we are better equipped to deal with the stressors to come?

Julia hopes to further her education in women’s health, functional nutrition, and neuro rehab- especially as it relates to athletes. She plans to continue to explore the relationship between physical therapy, fitness, and mindfulness as they all compliment each other. In her free time, Julia enjoys yoga, boxing, ultimate frisbee, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Rosie.
